“Today the fate of the world depends primarily on its statesmen and secondarily on their interpreters”

Liaison interpreting

Liaison interpreting means consecutive interpretation in more or less official environments like informal and formal meetings, workshops, study visits etc.

It shall be applied for a group up to 20 persons, and depending on the duration up to 3 consecutive interpreters shall be involved. Regardless of the setting, the interpreters shall always be a part of the “delegation” respecting all business rules, dress code and the like. As in all other cases, preparation is key, but in this specific setting the interpreter shall ideally know all cultural differences at meetings of both sides (applause vs. knocking on the table and the like).
